~ TRESON PAGE~

BIOGRAPHY...

Treson. How did you come to choose that name? I was born in Montreal Canada. Nature had it so that I was to be given a ticket to escape the cold, to the Sunny Island of Jamaica. Spanish Town. Three years later I would move to Kingston 10, Red Hills Road. Life for me really started when I moved to the cool, cool hills of Manchester, in the District of Coleyville, appropriately named. As the t-shirts says, " University Of Jamaica." It was here, in Jamaica that I was to learn the significance of the sun in my life. Like sunny mornings that gave way to hungry days, and sleepless nights. Market Sundays. The Sun, I see as My School Master for survival. Not knowing a father from a young age led to me fatherizing, so to speak The Sun. The furture was in Life itself, every day was just about living, to see the day was life. It was on the Streets Of Spanish Town I was led to realize that I had to become conscious, of My Self. to Live. Now seeing the need, after circumstances, of relating a father like figure to my younger brother. The Sun protected me. I love the Sun. I spend alot of time outside, outdoors, writing, playing, it is natural for me to associate myself with the Sun. At one time I was Sunchild on stage. I am the third son of my siblings, The Middle Child. Naturally given a path. So Treson came out naturally from all that contemplation. The name came out of what I could remember. How long have you known that you could sing? What led to you ultimately choosing to sing? I see it as music choosing me, and aligning itself to grow with my experiences. Before I knew me, music knew me. From a child, I remember loving music. Always been drawn to where it was. Jamaica is a place where music, is always playing. There is always music in the air. From the shops on the streets, to houses, Buses. Every one is creating Music in some way. I started singing I remember at 10yrs.old. I was now in New Vision Children's Home. I had moved from Kingston, where I had spent several years in a previous Foster Home. I was Dismayed, Hurt, Troubled. A serious combination, that grew the need for an outlet, of expressing what It was I was going through, from the emotional level. I attempted to make a guitar, sounding instrument out of fishing lines and Sardine cans. ( I Love My Sardines) I debuted my singing and playing skills at the New Visions Home Dedication Ceremony. It was not long after, that I was given a guitar. This started the intimate experiences with singing and playing. I remember listening to the radio, learning to sing a particular song, then trying to play it on the guitar. Then playing it at the first church service we went to. I found out early that Charlie Pride is not a good communion selection. Music became a good escape. Soon after, other children began taking up instruments that were gotten through donations, the Saxaphone, Trumpet, Drums, Clarinet. There was a natural building energy among us, to practice and get better at playing our instruments. Not long after we became a band. We played together for 5-6 years, playing wherever we were invited. Music literally became a savior to us. Allowing us to go where we otherwise would not have been able to go.
