~ BLESSED WINS 2006 JUNO AWARD ~

BEST REGGAE RECORDING OF THE YEAR -
REGGAE TIME
Halifax, NS – Blessed has once again added
to his award collection, walking away with the 2006 Reggae
Recording of the year JUNO Award for the hit single Reggae
Time. This is a repeat of his first time win of the JUNO in
2002. Blessed with the JJUrban Group was styling and most
definitely profiling as they took to the red carpet for Junos
2006 in Halifax, Nova Scotia this past Sunday evening. The
stars were out with everyone from Pamela Anderson, to Kardinal
Offishal to Coldplay sharing in the red carpet festivities.
However, for the very first time a company by the name of
JJUrban made their presence felt and what a presence it was.
The Jones & Jones/JJUrban team secured an important win
with Blessed (pronounced Bless-Ed) coming away with Reggae
Recording of The Year for Reggae Time.
The union with Blessed had been a long time coming and was
officially made public this weekend. "I've been a huge
fan of Blessed since I heard his huge banger Love on that
Bilal instrumental. I was losing my mind, and because of my
Jamaican heritage I've always wanted to work in the realm
of reggae and expand on what my parents started with Jones
& Jones. Bringing Blessed on board is my first step to
doing that”, says JJUrban President Jesse Jones.
Reggae Time was compiled with the help of the creative team
over at Explorer Records and was #1 for many weeks in Germany
this past fall. When the announcement was made at the Juno
Awards Saturday Night Gala, word instantly spread like wildfire
through industry tastemakers. "I cannot even explain
how I feel right now", said Blessed about his win.
"It's as if I'm not even here, it feels like a dream."
Although he had won the JUNO before he was not at the event
the night of his first win. This second award definitely solidifies
Blessed as one to watch both here at home and internationally.
The red carpet instantly heated up on Sunday as the vanilla
limo came to a stop outside the Halifax Metro Centre and out
came Jones & Jones President Denise Jones, writer/publicist
Debi Blair, JJUrban front man Jesse Jones, and the man of
the hour Blessed. Decked out in some vibrant Roots Jamaica
wear Blessed hit the carpet and seemed very much at home there.
Fans screamed out for the Juno award winner's autograph as
cameras snapped and reporters hailed. JJUrban's Jesse Jones
explains, "Man, you cannot even begin to understand what
the red carpet is like until you step out of your limo and
your feet touch it.
It was electric and all of these people knew who our artist
was. It was incredibly satisfying and further fueled my fire
to bring JJUrban to a level no one in this country has ever
witnessed before. At 24 years of age I have the hottest thing
in reggae right now and his name is Blessed. Period.”
The union with JJUrban will add to Blessed's fire power and
further compliment his marketing reach and credibility. JJUrban
will continue to receive creative direction from Jones &
Jones but will take care of day to day activity with Blessed’s
business.
The company also will not miss a step as they continue to
work on the Kris BabyBoy project. With Kris's first single,
"Burnin' Up Pt. 2", ready for release to national
and satellite radio in the next few months there is definitely
going to be a lot of talk about this sweet sounding 16 year
old rnb talent from Ottawa. JJUrban Group is incredibly proud
of Blessed and his accomplishment in claiming top spot in
reggae music in this country.
We intend on continuing to build our empire. For more information
